"Faerie Danse?..."

"Faerie Danse?..."

A Poem by Chris
"

Thoughts on an afternoon

"

“Fairie Danse? …”

‘Tis early - yet afternoon.

Can feel the trucks rumble

through the planks underfoot.

So near… so near - yet far.

Cars going …and going…

the whisper of other’s wheres

tire’s flowing

…floating…

Some have to …BE…

and we - the other’s

just have to… sit,

stand, lean-on porch rails,

gaze through the window’s glass,

…watch

wait…

for -

beginnings, ends, each in-between.

Drifting, drifting -

The mind’s pause

…silhouettes of leaves -

Imposed on wispy, shimmering branches.

The air coalescing…

They’re just right …there.

Cloudy eyes, unfocused to nows.

The dim, near-transparent view

views

…the movements…

circling, swaying, drawing

…yet somehow holding…

and the echoes

their echoes

re-sound within.

I SEE …I see…

The faire returning

Coming, floating the aerie.

Transparent colors - wondrous

colors…

swaying,

motion, movements…

step-pivots-circles-duck, prance

while with arms aloft and hands

flowing down

then up and back

around-and ‘round…

then begin anew

and again

and again

and…

Still breathing -

life has happened

as it always did and does,

but you've ne’er been forgotten

nor "shelved" in a mind's darknesses.

Another winter is nearing,

cool-to-cold,

bleak,

grayish,

damp and fleeting moments of

…being...

and now the silence echoes close.

My ‘Lizbeth rose

Is

…was…

here.

Chris, your poem is truly amazing. I love how you capture a single, quiet moment. You paint such a clear picture of the scene - the sound of the trucks, the shadows of the leaves - while also exploring the deep, quiet thoughts underneath it all.

The structure of the poem is what really pulls me in. It feels like time is slowing down and speeding up all at once, perfectly reflecting what you're describing. You truly are a wizard with words. It's a beautiful reflection on stillness and observation.

Oh, Chris, sometimes you are hard to decipher, so when I read your work I try to feel it instead of trying to understand, and throughout this "danse" I felt a quiet peace, leading to joy, then sorrow at the last, so much I damn near cried.
I do not know if I found what you left here, but I certainly felt what I found.
