"Valentine's Day - 2012"

Valentine's Day 2012 - quite for real.

Today is a day set aside for the love in our lives to be cherished, nurtured, remembered, and expressed,  Its a day when we, as individuals, seemingly collectively recognize the 'Heart' we have inside - not the beating organ, but the 'spirit' that makes us the person we are.  Some have made it a commercial success through thoughtless-though-actually-quite-full continual acquisition of flowers and endless chocolate, some even through jewelry (some of quite unquestionable taste).  Cards, dinners, movies - even other special 'moments' intended as being shared.  So many people seem to forget - others, during their year and so this day is seen, felt, and believed to be set aside to just... "Thank You" for caring about - all of the me's.

"Valentines Day - 2012"

Its so overcast outside...
and a dusting of snow awaits
  being shovel-pushed aside.

There were no footsteps
to mar the expanse -
or infringe upon my eyes.

    Nothing to distract -

    nothing to hold...
    silence inside,
    a soft fog being expelled
    as I paused - straightened
    - remembered
    then smiled.

"1"  - its hard to reach out
with a shovel handle while
keeping the feet still...

"4"  - Yeah THIS is for the young at heart
BUT
its the thought that counts...

"3"  - sigh, it says it but
I miss the 'old' way.

...its time to softly shake the head

and go back inside...

hot chocolate, some slow-burning logs -

lots of 'fuzzy' thoughts
and memories crowding round.
