Memorial Day 2012

"...To Missing Friends..."

Across our years
we define our continued existence
sometimes by and yet always with
our memories of those whose paths

we shared for however brief moments
we were allowed.

In life each made a difference -

hands, help, being there, hard times -

shared... moments when even breathing

took so much some couldn't - ever again.
Brothers, sisters, more family than I had
any right or dream of knowing.

Some days its nights I remember
and some nights its days unforgotten -

neither forgiven, that whisper and twirl
and stretch to an oblivion I haven't achieved.

To each of you ...you have a place

always and within me that remains
til I join you in the dust of which

we all become.  You are ...ARE

missed more than I, or any we,
ever thought - nor knew you could,

would - be.

Semper Fi.
