Love: A Novel Made with Sticky Notes

Never be afraid when someone writes your name so you love the way it sounds.

She had to be scared.

The only lips she knows

are the ones that curl when they lie.

She has read more unhappy endings

than the pages of the love novel she never 

had the chance to finish.

It was called, "A Happily Ever After"

and the only time she ever acted happy was after

she had cried enough tears 

to stop the drought in California.

Now I'm not an author,

I don't have a novel,

and writers block is my best friend;

but if I did write a book,

I would color it with characters with the same eyes as yours:

Strong, proud and lonely.

I would make a plot line filled with every way

I hope to one day love you.

More importantly,

the female protagonist would be your understudy.

You are already the main character in another series,

and everyone loves her.

I love her too.

I know,

it's scary because the only love you have ever known

were just a bunch of short stories and plot twists.

I think I'm just the "P.S. I love you." 

on the back of the sticky note.

The kind of guy that doesn't say a word,

and I know that scares you the most.

Andrew, this poem made me smile. You use form and structure to carry the reader through the poem, and I loved the line "the female protagonist would be your understudy." :) Keep putting your words on the page, my friend, and you'll always have a reader in me.
