Another Laura Story

“Why shouldn’t you ask a bull questions?"

Laura looked up. “What?”

“It’s question-a-bull behavior.”

 “That joke was Bull-Sht.” Laura laughed, “It’s just as well you don’t talk to anyone else like you talk to me.”

“I solemnly declare to keep that joke between me, myself and I. No one else would understand anyway.”

Laura giggled. “You’re an idiot.”

"Yeah I think you’ve mentioned that before, but I’m not the one talking to myself."

Laura sighed and replied with a smile, “I wouldn’t talk to myself so much if you didn’t keep talking to me.”

It's good to be able to laugh at and get along with yourself. I think many of us have thoughts/jokes that only we would understand, no matter how we might try to convey them. All of our brains are on different wavelengths.

These have a feel like they are interspersed with a larger story, in a book perhaps. I find them disturbingly intriguing, but I think others have found past ones uplifting...
Would it be entirely too p.c. if I suggested losing the "retarded"?

Is disturbingly intriguing a good thing btw? Some people find these stories weird but in essence they are about loving (and laughing at) oneself.

I hear you, it is a word I used often when I was young. I suspect your were channeling that in Laura.

I know other people read them as loving yourself. I feel them as a bit ambiguous. Is her talking to her self like that a good thing, or is something really wrong? I like that I am reading them that way, but you may not...Are there more than 2?

Seeing as you're so curious though ;) I will tell you that in my mind, it's her way of coping with everything else in her life. I haven't written anything that really touches on what the rest of her life is like but I am planning-ish to do that at some stage. :)

Actually I lie, The others do touch lightly on rest-of-her-life but there's more. Now that you know what I have told you, you will probably read the others differently but I don't expect it will matter too much. :)

Your question "is something really wrong" has me thinking ....
Who are we to define what is "wrong" when it comes to matter of the mind? If someone talks to themselves, does it automatically mean something is wrong with them? We could as the same question regarding the certain conditions of which we spoke about the other day. I feel it's a grey area but please, let me know your thoughts. I'm interested to know.

I agree my wording is problematic. I was trying to be vague.
I agree that there is nothing inherently wrong with talking to you self. That's why I was reading it both ways.
My view may, very admittedly, be colored by past experience. But then, I feel like all interpretations of writing are...
