Doomed thornsA Poem by Anne Davidson-LambAnother sad poem about loss and pain
Now things are crystal clear,
And I can see just how frail That the red, red rose can be. Hidden so well within its beauty, Is its thorns of protection. Just like I have been captivated by the rose, I am captivated by your beauty. Yet doomed to feel the tears well up. As you tear my heart from my chest. Leaving me on broken knees. Begging you to please. I use to watch the spark, dance in your eyes. But I was blind to, your transparent smile. For you only told me lies. Like the rose your thorns, Caressed my flesh. Drawing my blood through. Just like I have been captivated by the rose, I am captivated by your beauty. Yet doomed to feel the tears well up. As you tear my heart from my chest. Leaving me on broken knees. Begging you to please. As you leave, me upon my knees. I beg just to die, In hopes just maybe, then I will find my soul. Maybe I will finally know. Why I am haunted by your thorns. Just like I have been captivated by the rose, I am captivated by your beauty. Yet doomed to feel the tears well up. As you tear my heart from my chest. Leaving me on broken knees. Begging you to please. © 2016 Anne Davidson-Lamb |
