Flaws

Flaws

A Poem by Elizabeth Bennet

I am my own person

I am a baggage heavy

Burdened on earth’s soil

With assumptions and desire

I am flawed

I am speckled with reason

But bountiful with affection

I am not perfect, I do not wish to be

For flaws are gentle and human

Flaws make me, myself.

And to recognize people who love me

Through all of myself

Are the ones deserving

All of the love

I could essentially give

For I am heavy

With contradictions, vanity

With things heavier

But a tinge of desire

Tells me that I could go lighter

Eventually, each day

For I seek the wings of the almighty

With all my devoted self

In highs and lows

I am still a burdened baggage

With desires but also love

With flaws but also kindness.
