A Story by Annebelle Ashire
"

My Haven

"

~ Serenity ~

Every time I hang up the phone
I begin to cry.
A part of me is instantly alone
And you're the only one who knows why.

I stare at the caller ID
And for some reason I'm praying I didn't just hit
"End"
Proof of my stupidity,
Of course I did, my actions weren't pretend.

"I love you"
There's a fraze; much abused.
It's true
And of that I am accused.

But you know exactly why I say it all the time
You understand my aching heart.
It has nothing to do with writing this rhyme
But it helps; seeing as we're so far torn apart.

Everything is a reminder
Of the good times and the bad.
Just like a broken timer
I tick right back to "sad".

As I re-read our letters
I remember everything we've been through.
As careless as a feather
We made the very best of me and you.

Now the pages of our book
Are empty and in waiting;
On a brand new look
That we've slowly been creating.

The future smiles back
Telling us to follow.
With all the memories in tact
We'll make it through each tomorrow.

[Forever and past Eternity
Together in Serenity.]
