Inebriation

Inebriation

A Poem by Annebelle Ashire

Listening to you talk over the phone
Slurring your words and music blaring behind their excuse
Throw me a bone
Let's come to a truce

You promise to call
Promise to say you love me one more time before I go to sleep tonight
I miss you, that's all
I don't want to fight

I care so much
I worry because I'm not there
I miss that gentle touch
Your fingers caressing my hair

One of the reasons I cannot sleep
Is because I wonder if you even made it home last time
You get in too deep
But I love you and so I pray

If you're inebriated, I at least want to be there
Next to you
Because at least that way this whole thing I can bare
But then again, that's just my view

You mean the world to me
And I can't do anything to change your mind
So when you're so drunk you can't see
I will never be too hard to find

I would do anything for you
You know this better than anyone
So when you're sober and read this through
Just remember
I will NEVER run

Inebriation

It's no abbreviation

This is a very loving poem I could see how you felt.
I know how you feel though I do go through this on lots of occasions.
