AloneA Poem by Annie AleNight has come, The light has dimmed to blackness. In the corner She sits And cries silently So no one may hear. She blows her nose softly, Dabs her eyes, Then takes the cold compress To press against her skin So no one will know. Her attempts are futile As the tears roll down her cheeks, Into the corners of her mouth, Off her chin, And soak her shirt. Remnants of a past That no longer is. As she exerts a lack of motion to hide the pain, She mourns the absence of movement, For in the end, Either way, She is still alone. © 2013 Annie Ale |
