A Lover's KissA Poem by AAmellIn dedication to my WifeWhat could you call a warm embrace, That wouldn’t be complete disgrace? A simple hug would surely fail To fully lift this subtle veil.
Curling toes upon a bed Or gentle pecks upon your head, Are more than diction can describe; This rival to divine design.
An ecstasy of hearts and limbs Like softly singing ancient hymns, Can no more be solidified Than Romeo’s own spirit guide.
What I say to thee is this: If all the earth was free of bliss And edging on that dark abyss; Outside our door the world amiss, Reprieve would be a lover’s kiss © 2016 AAmellAuthor's Note
