A Chilling Short Story

This short story will send a chill up your spine while you learn how a group of young pranksters find out life is no joke.

Practical jokes are often funny until they are not.  Sometimes limits are
pushed too far and are just wrong, dead wrong.
I remember when I was in middle school  kids were always goofing around so much pushing limits and razzing on everyone. No one was immune, until one day these certain bunch of pranksters changed their tune.
Sadly I lived right across the street from one of them. I am sure you can imagine how I had spent most of my time. That's right, avoiding being part of their amusement at all cost. Invisible like.
The boy across the street seemed to be the one who had all the ideas behind the annoying pranks pulled on people in our neighborhood. They also liked pulling pranks on one another as well.  I got to admit, I had spent many a day peering out my second story window witnessing their gags and chuckling quite a bit. I was really thinking to myself back then, thank goodness it wasn't me. Sometimes it was better than what was on TV.
One really cold day after a pretty bad snow storm, you know the ones that freeze everything over with ice. Well I woke that morning to loud laughter and talking. I had peered out my window to see what the pranksters were up to that time.
The group of them had been hanging around the boys house across the street from me. You know the one with all the ideas. I did not see him at that time in the group so I assumed he had gone to the corner store down the road buying the morning newspaper for his dad and other stuff like milk and bread. I had seen him do that before.
Well I could not believe it when I had seen  one of the boys had managed to climb up onto the roof of their attached garage that day. My guess was that he was going to make an avalanche of snow fall upon him when he returned from the store. I had been full of anticipation that morning to witness him being pranked.
I know it seemed mean at the time  but whenever he got a chance  where I could not have avoided  him he had always embarrassed and insulted me. So yeah a little pay back is a b***h and I had planned on enjoying every moment watching it. So I had pulled up my chair to the window wishing that I had popped some popcorn.
So when I had seen him less than a block away the suspense was killing me with every step he had taken getting closer to his house. I was so happy at the time to think he would receive a little back for what he had been dishing out for years.
I had intently watched him about to walk right under the garage door to get clobbered by the avalanche of snow however, at that moment I had gotten distracted by his mom,dad and baby sister who were playing outside in the side yard at the time making a snowman . So cute I had thought. Suddenly a big gust of wind had whistled and blew the hat off the snowman. His little sister at the time who was only four years old ran after the hat as the wind carried it towards the front of the house.
Lets just say the boys really got him good with the avalanche of snow. They were all laughing their asses off as they dug him out that morning. Quickly all the laughter had been drowned out by an ear piercing scream followed by crying. Unfortunately when the snow had fallen off the roof from the avalanche it had loosened other snow.
On the side where the mom ,dad and little sister were building their snowman had been some long hard icicles that had broken free. One fell and had pierced right through the little girl killing her instantly.
The once pure white snow had been stained red by the misfortune of the  of ones jokes played on another.  No one is laughing now.
