The Sunshine Maiden's LamentA Poem by Christine
The minstrel serenaded to his lust
"thy beauty is a deligh to gaze on". The sunshine maiden's cheeks apple-y blush'd. In another world she could have been fond of him, though he was lowly and a cheat. Her father's hounds, horses sent him fleeing. Her sunshine tresses, dull, lank like wheat, her cold blue eyes were constantly raining. She sat beneath the cherry tree, waiting for her beloved minstrel to come return. She sat, excuses in her mind creating butterflies in her gut, queasily churn'd. 'Til the end of her days she'll sit here, not believing that her lover's love has rot. © 2012 ChristineAuthor's Note
