beautifully painful complacent lie
told at heart's contempt,
plain as the day of Ides;
it envelopes many agonies,
enslaves many souls,
captivates the innocent passerby
sinking,
etching it's wretched claws
into my heart;
gasping, grasping
my demons straining to drag me on
into the horrific, atrocious depths
depths to which no mortal dares delve
trapped in this hell, the euphoric
nightmarish horror,
this eternal paradox
that binds us to hate
to want
envy, suffering, despair
living in an umbra
a perfect disaster
as the shame of betrayal elicits
a new desire:
redemption,
a glimpse of the eternal fire that
consumes all that's left
sustaining a shattered mind,
a dying heart and broken dreams
these majestic words we bind,
we bind to distant realms and
constant themes
a static slumber,
awakening the fantasies
of dreams past
in my extremis.
