Inert Inspirers

Inert Inspirers

A Poem by Archishman Rick

When he was locked up in prison,
Further misdeeds he connived,
But being served as subhuman,
Evoked his forgotten pride.

When she became too glum minded,
And thought she had lived enough,
A childhood fragrance reminded,
Of debt of forgotten love.

When honoured warriors trembled,
As darkness blinded their sight,
Dishonoured rejects assembled,
To lend their forgotten light.

When tales intrigue with their views,
Yet fail to preach them robust,
As I keep working with clues,
I have not forgotten trust.

Thr prisoner found his conscience and pride, blinded brave warriors got their lights from unexpected sources and someone who had lost all mirth was revived by a childhood fragrance of love. Great hope in your words, my friend. Never give up, till we have exhausted all possibilities and then some.

This offering seems to speak of second chances. Verse 1 concerns a man who is imprisoned but decides not to let it destroy his faith in himself, while verse 2 describes a woman who had almost written her life off, but is reminded of the power of love by a fragrance. The succeeding verses serve as reminders that we should not give up hope, despite the negative messages life might give us. A good message here.

"Let us, then, be up and doing,
With a heart for any fate;
Still achieving, still pursuing
Learn to labor and to wait."

There is so much power in your poem. Sometimes hope greets from unexpected places. We see that very hope sparkling in the eyes of the prisoner, the girl who was about to end her life, and the warriors. I have developed this habit of preserving some of the wonderful works in my journal that I come across here, and this is definitely going there. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks a lot for your nice words friend. :) I'm glad you like it.
This is complicated writing & it took me a while & a few readings to glean out what you're saying here, but I doubt if I gleaned even half of what you intended. I've reviewed you before & you have felt that I was not reading you in the way that you intended, so you gave it a thorough explanation in your reply, which I always appreciate. I think the first 2 verses here are fairly straightforward & easy to understand, but the other 2 get interestingly complex & not easily deciphered. In the end, I get it that you are showing how the most unexpected things in life can give us inspiration in one way or another, but I have to say, nobody but you would pick these examples to show that. It's great that you show instead of tell. After giving your poem deep thought, I can see the way each verse supports your premise with a different illustration from real life. It's just that you have an interestingly complex way of seeing life & then translating it into imagery to make your various points. Please don't get defensive about this comment becuz there are many poets I cannot understand (or maybe I half-understand) at the cafe! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
