A Poem by ArielMicheline

she lingers when she leaves

shampoo in the pillow casings

soap scented sheets

damp bathtowels in the laundry bin

and the case from her contact lenses

still sitting on the vanity

she will curse loud later when she looks

and finds nothing to hold her

sleepy eyes in

i notice her more when shes gone

my failing at life is to not

appreciate what is right in front of my

aching angry body

melancholy is what i am best at

i wonder at her patience some times

she wonders at my ability for disconnect

little child with her

hands over her ears yelling loudly into nothing

I AM NOT LISTENING I AM NOT HERE

eyes shut

fingers cramping

i am trying so hard to listen

i wonder why it is that i can never

be here
