Ego

Always so dramatic,

Spreading needless rumors.

This need you have is harmful,

And spreads like a tumor.

 

We are supposed to be a team,

This isn't a contest for recognition.

And yet your ego has inflated,

What a horrid condition.

 

Trying to claw yourself higher,

You constantly pull us down.

You don't seem to understand,

All you want is the crown.

 

The strike to your pride will hurt,

When the hammer strikes it true.

Don't blame anyone at all,

Your ego was far too huge.

 

We're supposed to be family,

We're all in the same boat here.

Take off the prideful shades,

And stand amongst your peers.

I'm probably way off topic but this one reminded me of being in a "partnership" where instead of caring about how the other feels, the egotist in the poem would rather feel the need to defend themselves or draw attention by making themselves the victim in every situation.

The person that inspired the rage that helped write this was a coworker who likes putting others down, often has a holier-than-thou attitude and generally likes to get coworkers introuble for the same things he's trying to get away with.

Its all about perspective though. Everyone has a different point of view and can find a different meaning or story in anything they read.
