This offering seems to compare the inner consciousness with the outer world. The inner mind is a place of light, in fact. a "lantern of joy," whereas the dark outer world conceals dangers, such as poisonous snakes. These, of course, are metaphors for comparison's sake. Yet they speak a truth: Within lies the only true safety.

Omg the message is so beautifully portrayed and captured. In this day and age when darkness surrounds us in every step of our way, we have to believe there is light shining somewhere somehow. We just have to find it. Kudos! I love it!
Something so comforting about the dark. We sleep in it, and dream through it. And that process of sleeping we can heal, learn and experience things through it. But at the same note we can also have fears about it just like you stated "hands crawls all around."
I love how you ended this poem with hope in it "ocean of darkness/takes through safe path."
Even though there is darkness surrounding, us we can still the light within… we can feel the goodness in the face of evil… nice writing TP
Warmly
