Forever,

What does it even mean?

The dictionary says “for all of future time”

But I’m not talking about a dictionary

I want the real life one

 

See I thought the two matched up

I thought it was synonymous to words like always

Eternal

Continuous

I thought it meant never ending

 

I was wrong

Life taught me otherwise

 

Forever

It means until something better comes along

Or until you get bored

It means while it is convenient

Until you get angry

Until it becomes too hard

 

What this tells me is

Forever is just an empty word

A filler

Something that sounds good

 

Empty words

Words that use to mean something

But don’t anymore

Words that use to have power

Like the word love

 

Forever

What is was

A promise

What it is

A broken promise

A lie
