I thirst for all, my bloodied contract signed.

Never satisfied, always craving more,

I am tied to Earth with eternal binds.

 

Stealing… pillaging anything that shines

To want means to take, no matter what for.

I will take from the rich, the poor and blind.

An abomination - one to abhor,

I am tied to Earth with eternal binds.

 

I worry not for my fellow mankind,

Only lust after treasure-gilded floors.

Wealth and jewels are now mine to enshrine,

Materials rotting me to the core.

I am tied to Earth with eternal binds.

 

Desire in excess forever confined

To the tangible plain I so adore.

Author's Note

I have challenged myself to write a poem for each of the Seven Deadly Sins, each in a different form. Here is Greed in the form of a Villanelle. Comments? Suggestions?

Greed in whatever form is a sin... n here it herself is explaining its reality... for few people everything still means nothing.. they want more and more and thats where it becomes a lust and leads to unexpected consequences.. beautiful work Ashira.. seven deadly sins is a reality.. thanks for sharing :)

Greed cancertainly lead to bloodshed.There is a find line between ambition and greed; to step over it creates the sin.

you took this concept and treated very well in your Villanelle...and thematically...yes, Greed ties to earthly things, but we can't take them with us...
but some just want excess of access...
