The Prison

The Prison

A Poem by Morgan Ashire
"

The second piece that ever flowed from my fingertips. It shared a piece of old battered paper with my first creation. This is where it all began. Open to review only.

"

It’s a prison,

One that you can’t escape.

It’s a prison,

You can’t get away.

To be a slave,

To give all but get none.

It’s a prison,

One that you can’t help.

It’s a prison,

One that extremely small.

The only thing you can’t escape

Is the worst prison of all.

The mind.

Dude, your fingertips are freakin' talented! Seriously, this is great! "The Mind"... that's a pretty cool idea. I'm deeply impressed with this theme! But, if I may present my own opinions, the mind is only a prison when you're conservative... lol

Great job! This was absolutely the best short poem I've read in a while. :)

The mind is a prison. I like this idea. It's pwerful and very true. The mind throws thoughts at you, and you cannot duck, escape, or fight back... if you do any of those 3 things, people will start to call you names like "insane" or "mental" or "just totally beserk"...

i completely agree with this poem. you can escape almost everything in the world but at the end of the day, all you are left with are your thoughts and they definitely can be a prison. great short poem! i haven't seen one for a while that was short but had a definite point to it. great job!

the repetition words very well
in this piece...it almost makes
the reader FEEL closed in, and
of course, the ending line is
perfect, and oh, so true....

So true~ I think many can relate to this well expressed piece~you cannot run away from the mental process of one's mind~ even in dreams the mind is always turning~keeping us prisonors~ disturbing true peace to be sure~

A negative but true view of the mind. I can only imagine what brought this view point out. Did you have someone in your family who suffered a mental illness or is there something else in your life that brought this out.

okay lemme try reviewing your work once more! (this time its not about religion so im in the clear hehe) It is true that we are all trapped inside of our own midns but i also feel like someties we can escape from our minds if not for just as taste like in deams or ven in writing if i may say so. When i write i feel like im in the story myself and in that way i m free of my earthly confines of my mind. Most people do no find this though ad are indeed trapped inid etheir own minds as you so welly put in you poem here. Nonetheless i love this peice. Your skill in poetry never ceases to amaze me and you have rare way of combning words to mean more than what they are. Good job!

Wow... reminds me of one of my poems...."the bind of life" I love the thought behind it.... our mind is one of the most powerful prison cause you can never truly escape it... Great job!
