Could BesA Poem by ashleydawn
Working nine to five
Without even a minor break Pushing for more hours, more love, more time Driving home sweaty and collapsing into a heap of exhaustion You could be. Climbing the company ladder Smart suit and pressed tie Long hours to please the higher ups A sweet assistant to keep you company No time for me You could be. Rising at the hours of your whim Melancholy chords fill the house Echoing your lack of calls this week You show me your recent composition and I nod but pass quickly The kids need to go to daycare You could be. One knapsack with all you need Mine lies by its side The car is only warmed by our bodies this evening We'll try to start it again tomorrow Or hitch again, you leading this lifestyle You could be. **Unfinished**
