I Was Made a Golden

I Was Made a Golden

A Poem by ashleydawn

There is a line

in our society

A line that seperates

the golden children

from the rebels

The A's from the C's

When I was born

my mother placed

me with teh goldens

and told me to stay put

The goldens were taught

to learn the rules

to commit each line to memory

to do well in school

and bring home perfect grades

The goldens were the best

We were never told to be quiet

or grounded for misbehavior

We knew the signs

and symptoms of our

parents every thought

After graduation that line

begins to fade

but mine is as darka s ever

and seems to never go away

I have kept the standards

the expectations set on me

For I was made a golden

and that's all I'll ever be.
