Sigh Novels

Sigh Novels

A Poem by Avery James

The room shifts and my skin is singed.
My fingers, rubbing the sheets, trace the secrets of life.
A realm I can only find with you, but the treasures
Only glitter. I can never touch the spell
You’ve cast on me.
Our bodies whisper sweet nothings and lies. Our breath
Is a chorus that shakes the foundation to the core.
The sun screams as we sigh novels
Into the air, our talents wasted.
Our potential has become kinetic, leaving our beings and dashing
To those more deserving. I strain and reach
As it escapes me.
My once whispering fingers bleed tears of failure
As my dreams stroll arrogantly away.
They never look back.
You envelope me and I am left with nothing.

But you.
