Left and RightA Poem by Sam MarkayThese lyrics are some of, I'm sure, many to be made in future, about something that deeply troubles me.
This heart of love has trouble breathing
and lungs of tar with scattered breathing I have no scars, but I need healing I left it up to you My mind would race without a brake and in a panic pulse and shake I need some help to dull the ache I left it up to you Your hands in hers and mine in rage put thoughts to pen and ink to page reactions too violent to gauge I left it up to you You are what I needed most the comfort of a lingering ghost I know you'll say I have no right you left it up to me that night Excuse my attempts at civility when all I want is to get angry I'm right to feel the hurt so deep I gave it up to you Serenade me with all your reason hate is the spark that lights the season fires will rage and scream out treason I gave it up to you Your hands are burned and mine in rage put thoughts to pen and ink to page reactions too violent to gauge I gave it up to you You are what I needed most the comfort of a lingering ghost I know you'll say I have no right you gave it up to me that night You are what I needed most You are what I needed most I know you'll say I have no right you left it up to me You were what I needed most the comfort of a lingering ghost I let you go, but was it right? I gave you up that night © 2011 Sam Markay |
