Clouded Demon

Clouded Demon

A Poem by Christopher Hampton

I was a sick fiend
Who beat heaps of rust
To meet me would mean we'd compete til' out feet gushed
I was the king but
I feel like I'ma com-bust
I can't breath because I'm six feet deep in the mud
Defeat is enough
This treatment is tough
I say I'm strong
But I just keep on beating me up
It's easy to cup the pain and laugh it off
Because when I get home suddenly the mask comes off
The flask is tossed
Chemicals are splashed across
My skin and the laughter is blackened with ash and dust
Attack I must
My lack of trust
Causes me to be an a*s when I'm asked to love
The passion thrusts
Bursting the pain back at me
I slit my wrists
Just to see how black it bleeds
It nags at me
You're just a bunch of fallacy
So maybe you should think twice before attacking me.
