Spiritual LegacyA Poem by Ayanda MtetoI want
to bring change before my dying flesh Leave
a legacy for my sons and daughters Upon
this world raped of its resources Welcome
them to paradise As I
was robbed cast out of Eden for the apple Was
sin a seed of vile Upon
my weary heart I was deceived It
looked ripe as she gave me to taste Melting in
my lips languishing That
savour my mouth was salivating It was
like a dream I could see but not touch It
would escape as I reach to grab Down
my mouth flowing with juices Soothing
my neck tingling with sweet joy As
each bite was cascading with honey ecstasy Tasting
a delicious sin Melting
like a vanilla cream on a sunny day I rushed
to finish this life I
needed time to grow unfurl my roots On the
ground bare real fruits Not apples
I tasted sin but life to cherish Sprout
its fullness My soul thwarts for chasing worldly riches I give
this world to you as I depart Bleeding
on the cold Earth Nourishing
the arid ground. © 2012 Ayanda MtetoReviews
