We were once Free

We were once Free

A Poem by Ayanda Mteto
"

Life was jungle, but now it is urban

"

Ribbons of life

Witness power with emotions

An infertile mind doubts

Give reasons without ascertainment

When a bird flaps its wings

It expect to fly

So then why do we pray when we don’t believe

Left disappointed with virtues vaguely concluded

Thoughts are like riffles

When they are pulled triggered with anger

They become death

White and pale with self righteous views

How a pope preaches

About hunger and sin

When we goes home to a plate full of meal

Heart full of sin

Looked away a beggar on the street

But it all makes sense

Why support a completion when, too, he begs

To his congregation

With the name of God

Children are thought to be deceitful

Encourage to be lawyers, politicians and actors

With a curriculum supporting the rich

They say, “Education is a key”

Why is it expensive? Is it open doors of slaveship?

When you understand you are free

Animals live in the wild with no mortgage and bills.
