Beautiful Mess

Beautiful Mess

A Poem by Ayesha Faiz
"

Just a simple poem about life. Nothing too deep, nothing to special, I just want to thank you, with all of my pleasure.

"
Beautiful Mess.

Where should I go? What should I do?
Nowhere to hide, no path to pursue.
Life is a book, with chapters so bright,
Reading is fun, but I lose my sight.

I saw someone, shining like gold,
I thought he was strong, fearless and bold.
But then I realized, I was wrong,
He was just there to mourn all along.

I feared to see through all the lies,
Yet somehow, it ended up in a sweet surprise.

I am shocked by how people think they can copy others' answers,
Not realizing that life has given them different question papers.

I don’t know what I'm trying to be,
Except that it's a strange melody.
I don't know if this is a bless,
I just know that life is a beautiful mess.

Modern poetry is more apt to use slant rhyme than true rhyme especially with end rhyme. Internal rhyme is more prominent in poetry now than genuine end rhyme and structure.

Yes, true! Modern poems use more near rhymes and rhymes inside lines. They don’t always follow old.. read more

I appreciate your words.
"I saw someone shining like gold.
I thought he was strong, fearless, and bold.
But then I realized I was wrong.
He was just there to mourn all along."

The poem itself is melodic and rhythmic in nature, but this line in particular really struck a chord with me, mostly I assume due to my work in behavioral health. We live in a world where we are all trying to be more than what people see -- a mixture of glimmer and grief. We are hope and despair in a lopsided package and we're all the more interesting for it. Its a striking paradox that you capture beautifully in your words, creating and overall enjoyable read.

Thanks alot for your thoughtful words Emunah June. Really appreciated.
we each have a book to read and it is ours to experience one page at a time and not become overly angered or swayed by others who question our particular genre of choice and want to recommend what they find enjoyable, enlightening, or frightening - I speak metaphorically of course - many excellent lines in your work - "Life is a book, with chapters so bright, Reading is fun, but I lose my sight. " We all often lose sight of where we are in the book and where the end will take us. - My piece "Turning Pages" is an attempt to address this same subject. - be well and safe - carl

Awww. So sweet. I felt these quotes, kinda remembered my old poems and feels so alive. I can sense behind the meaning of questions.
"I am shocked by how people think they can copy others' answers,
Not realizing that life has given them different question papers." What a great thought! That's so true. Advices seems so awkward to me, advice from whom to who? We all have different lives. Even siblings are different than the each other, even though they have the close DNAs and same parents, same environment. We are all different and we all have our own questions and answers.
I love this poem so so much!!! Can't wait to read others from you!
