A poem about how we come from the earth and return to it, how we are part of the world, and the world is part of us.

I exhale--"
a piece of me enters the world.

A tree inhales.
And somewhere,
a leaf is born.

We treat the wind like a stranger,
Forgetting that it has lived in our lungs.

What breaks away
returns.
What stands apart
was never apart.

You are not in the world.
You are the world,
briefly remembering itself.
