Motion without direction

Motion without direction

A Poem by Ayesha Faiz

Motion without direction.

They say life moves forward
but I’ve seen it loop,
stumble,
pause.

A straight path is rare--
most of us walk in spirals
calling it progress.

Maybe we don’t grow away from things.
Maybe we grow around them.
Like trees do.

No problem good read
I totally agree with you.. I doubt any of us walk a straight path…. Too many bumps in the road and too many life changes that make us circle and twist and turn… I like the addition of the tree… 😊

What a concept! Even if we grow around things instead of staying in a straight line, we get where we are supposed to be in the end! Time does move forward, but often it does not take us along for the ride. Your philosophical poetry is wonderful. Lydi**

It's a beautiful thought. Sometimes life needs to pause. My psychologist cousin told me this when I was going through a very painful time: life doesn't always have to move forward. Sometimes it just needs to pause. We don't have to keep up with the time; we can dance with it... Thank you for sharing!

A very engaging thought process here Ayesha.
You've compared our growing in life to the growing of trees. In a way, that's such a deep and beautiful comparision.
After all, aren't we just an extension of nature?
You are such a thinking poet!

Motion without direction....an interesting concept...

It could be understood that this is a kind of anxiety state...or frustration....but then the line about the trees.....lifts the reader.....and I think this is ultimately an honest write about the potential of life to grow (even if it's not in straight lines.....)

Thanks for sharing

There are no straight lines in nature. I'm sure life is like that to. You bring out such a good point in this. Well done, Ayesha.
