The mirror doesn't lie

The mirror doesn't lie

A Poem by Ayesha Faiz
"

I wrote this poem with inspiration from a creative friend. Hope you all enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.

"
"The Mirror Doesn’t Lie"

She never spoke - at least, not loud,
Her silence wrapped her like a shroud.
The world passed by with blinded eyes,
Too deaf to hear her inward cries.

They saw a face both calm and still,
A woman bent to others’ will.
But in the mirror, truth would gleam -
A whisper woven through the seam.

The mirror knew what none could guess,
Her quietness held no helplessness.
In glances cast, her soul would tell
Of dreams that rose where silence fell.

No scream, no storm, no shouted plea--"
Yet strength ran deeper than the sea.
Her hush was not from fear or lack,
But an armour none could see or crack.

And in the end, the mirror spoke -
The silence split, the silence broke.
"You were not voiceless - just unseen.
Power wears silence, just like a queen."

Truly a powerful poem. Keep up the work!

Ayesha, who is this about? A real person or a fictional character? Your poem made me think of mothers for some reason. As I have said elsewhere, your writing, particularly for someone your age, is excellent. Keep at it!

There are two ways to survive: silently thoughtful, pacing self's outer and more important, inner feelings and what.to.do bewilderment. Or.. stamping around, shouting plus yelling self into utter confusion. Pause, inhale and exale slowly, let body limp into silence. Your words are advice from the best, a true call for taking time to mull things over, to hold back yet consider calmly as can and.. hopefully return to self with at least a gentle smile. You write with great thought and care: thank you so much for sharing.

Wow! Too good.
It shows deep thought and the struggle.

Often people tend to think silence is weakness.
But it is the stronger than a thousand storms.

Silence often appears to others as weakness but in reality can be a sign of inner strength - the loud are often just boisterous to present a facade of false courage - the mirror reflects truth of self confidence - nice piece of work - rhyme scheme very well done - carl

It's always nice to hear from you Carl. Thank you very much!
This one is so empowering for women! The rhyming is flawless as is the rhythm. Indeed, those who quietly observe the world have the power. Some people need to have an impenetrable shield around them. Perhaps they have been hurt in the past or have a fear of being hurt. Often those people are underestimated. Truly a wonderful poem here. Lydi**
