The mirror doesn't lie

The mirror doesn't lie

A Poem by Ayesha Faiz
"

I wrote this poem with inspiration from a creative friend. Hope you all enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.

"
"The Mirror Doesn’t Lie"

She never spoke - at least, not loud,
Her silence wrapped her like a shroud.
The world passed by with blinded eyes,
Too deaf to hear her inward cries.

They saw a face both calm and still,
A woman bent to others’ will.
But in the mirror, truth would gleam -
A whisper woven through the seam.

The mirror knew what none could guess,
Her quietness held no helplessness.
In glances cast, her soul would tell
Of dreams that rose where silence fell.

No scream, no storm, no shouted plea--"
Yet strength ran deeper than the sea.
Her hush was not from fear or lack,
But an armour none could see or crack.

And in the end, the mirror spoke -
The silence split, the silence broke.
"You were not voiceless - just unseen.
Power wears silence, just like a queen."

I read your story on a website—Amazing Stories." I’ve got some ideas I’d love to share with you—I'm pretty sure you and your readers will really like them! 😊
Well, when I was reading it, I got an idea for the cover art, and I would love to create it for your story at a fair price. You can see my artwork here.

Sometimes silence is much more powerful than any word uttered.
And a look from others might portend to them, helplessness.
But the mirror knows the real you.
I am reminded of Sylvia Plath's "Mirror"---
when the mirror, personified, says...
"Now she is searching my reaches for who she really is"---

You got that "haunting writer" skill.

Listen to Bobbi Darin sing "beyond the sea" then read any HP Lovecraft story, then listen to Bobbi again... I would wager this creates a fountain of ideas for you.

One might wonder who the lady was and why the world so misjudged her. She certainly seems to have had great character, but for some reason it was never acknowledged.
