Markers and dogsA Chapter by Kaelee WyantThis is my first day in the hospital.I walked into the activity room the girl was in. There was a couch with three seats at each wall and a flat screen mounted on one. Shoved in a corner was a table and four chairs. That's where she was sitting, drawing. She looked up at me and smiled. The first thing I noticed were her eyes. They were super blue. Then as my eyes traveled down I noticed the scars on her wrist. I jumped when she spoke. "Hey, I'm Tori! I heard you were coming to I organized all the markers for you." I peered into the marker box. Indeed, they were all in the right place. I sat down and began to color only to be called out seconds later to go fill out more papers. By that point my stomach was growling. The nurse must have heard because she asked me if I was hungry. I eagerly nodded my head and she set a sandwich and juice in front of me. I gobbled it all up in only a few bites. It was delicious! The kitchen was kind of big. It had a wooden table with eight chairs, a stove, a microwave, a fridge, and lots of locked cabinets. I was done eating and almost done with paperwork when I thought I heard a whimper. Then I heard a bark. They have pets here? I'm sure confusion showed on my face because the nurse told me to go back to the activity room and look. There was a golden retriever and a little rat with fur named Wolfie. Apperently, I learned later, they had dogs come in once a week as a type of therapy. My mom walked in. I forgot she had been there. She said goodbye. I gave her a hug, watched her wipe a tear, and she left. I felt kind of bad but oh well it was time to eat. We had the best burger and tater tots i'd ever had. I was so full I had to save some for later. I never got to because as soon as we were done eating I was exhausted. They showed me my room. There were four pictures of horses on the one wall. Two on top of each other. My bed was right between them. On each side of my bed were dressers and across from my bed was a sink. I saw a curtain and pulled it aside. Inside was a toilet and a shower. It was strange, the toilet paper was in a little hole not on a role. I was mentally and physically done for the day. I flopped into bed. © 2014 Kaelee WyantAuthor's Note
