If You Could Go Back In Time (What Would You Change?) (Original)

A Poem by B-poet

Rewinding the clock

Back to a past time

Exactly during your prime

Where everything you ever wanted

Was within reach

As realty was teaching you

An unforgettable lesson

In the final say for

(What Would You Change?)

That can't be undone

Would it be that lost love

Who got away

Where cold feet intervened in the worst way

Ending an anticipated engagement

Was it really meant to be

To some degree or extent

What about cashing in

On a pivotal moment

In your personal history

Where the real lifestyle

You would’ve been living today

Was a heartbeat away

Back in the day

Yet you missed that chance

By forever closing

Your book of life's

Proposed prosperity pages

During your lifespan

Those pages where read aloud

After realities present day edits

Were credited

Following the last act

Of your recorded soul's exact utterances'

Seen and heard by all

Was the demand for

Your past heart's desired fortunes

Encrypted within a message

Translated by your future self

Standing behind a subjective podium

While illustrating on a remedial stage, why?

So many would a, could a, should a's

Are in abundance as we age

If You Could Go Back In Time

(What Would You Change?)

The topic is a bit cliched, been talked about many times, but, your expression of the topic is one of the best I ever read. This is one thing that great poets have always wondered, great scientists have always been thrilled by and great singers have always been ringed by! You have asked the question so effectively, and so clearly! Very nicely written!

This is a thought -provoking piece. It made me think...If I could go back in time, what would I change?
Nice piece. :)

Universal questions for sure, and I'm sure a lot of people can relate to this for that reason...great piece :)

I enjoyed this thorough, thought provoking poem. I enjoyed the continuous snippets to have your reader think of moments along life's journey. I believe things happen for a reason, when they happen. We make choices of course, but I believe if someone from our past comes into our lives again, there is a reason, a lesson, a need within us that will be fulfilled in some regard. Call it fate, God's intervention, divine will, whatever... the results may not be what we want in crossing paths, but there is definitely something to be gained, a reason things happen, which we may or may not understand at the time. Keeping the faith! :)

I had this strange speculation that whichever road we take, whatever decision we make, we will get to the same end. Fixed. Unchangeable end. And the events in the past were as planned. If I could go back in time, I'll change my state of mind. Now it looks like the question is going to stay with me a little longer. Thanks to you and to your thought provoking write:D

Strictly speaking, if we were able to travel back in time, any tiny ripple--even stepping on a twig--could have catastrophic implications. We all desire, from time to time, to go back an do things differently, but in reality, righting the wrongs could create more wrongs. I liked thinking on this one, my friend. You have got my brain working today. Thank you.

You've posed the question on practically everyone's mind...and here's the only answer you'll ever hear pass my lips...I wouldn't change a damn thing. Everything (good, bad, or otherwise) has made me who I am today.

I love this poem though. It asks all the right questions. All the things that go through our heads everyday. The self talk, the talk of others, the what if's, the why's. Great job putting all together.
