Deceptive Daily Monotony

Deceptive Daily Monotony

A Poem by B-poet

Having the feeling

You've been there & done that before

The allure

Is so strong

Perception condones

Deception's blowing winds

Across the landscapes of reality's

Deja Vu Valley

Bringing to life

What could be happening

Inside the minds of all people

Who've conceived

Deceptive Monotony

As a valuable commodity

Within a culturally beguiled society

Of repetitive & ill-advised virtues

Set to be the norm for all

Who have no clue

As to what truly pertains

Too their short term future as a whole

Profound truth cleverly written here. Monotony is the norm for those who have no clue.

Many people fear change and accept the monotony of predictability over the challenge of the unknown. An intriguing read

Sometime we become too comfortable in the deception...bits of our future get blown in the wind, little by little...

This is an Intriguing write, Bpoet!

Although we dislike monotony on the whole, there is a strange comfort in routine and doing what you know over and over again. Although we scream inside for something different, after time we can become afraid of changes. Disruptions to our norms. Changes could be bad, changes may not work out. This, what we are doing day to day does work. That is the great lie, isn't it? If it worked we wouldn't be thinking and dreaming of something different. We'd be content in the life we are leading.

Nice work on this one. :)

I don't want to take away from the seriousness of this piece, but the first thing it reminded me of was a Monty Python skit called "Deja Vu"...of course, there is always a certain element of the Human Condition in their comedy, even the silliest stuff...I love the perception/deception relationship here...another great piece :)

Yes, we do tend to get lulled into a sort of sense of comfortable repetition in our lives. This is probably the reason that when we go on vactaion, after 4 or 5 days we are ready to come home again. I think the mind becomes comfortable with repetition and even monotony in certain ways.

Technical issue: in the line "Of repetitive & ill-advised virtue's" you don't need the apostrophe, so just "virtues".

Overall, nicely done.

We are lulled into a feeling of ignorance-induced bliss with this deceptive monotony... well done, thoughtful piece, BP!
