At a high & clear octave

Shining brightly

Like their fluorescent feathers

Loftily inside the sky's spotlight

Soaring through life without fear

They, the puritan, poet world, wanted to chop Whitman's head off for writing "When Lilacs Last in the
Dooryard Bloom'd".

"O liquid and free and tender!
O wild and loose to my soul - O wondrous singer!
You only I hear, yet the star holds me (but iwll soon depart)
Yet the lilac with mastering odor holds me"

What whitman was talking about was the "To the tally of my soul"
which, althoughconsidered far too emotional for the 1860', is an apt parallel
to the theme you allude to here.

i used to love vermont...in the morning hearing the bobwhites and the whipporwills and others...the sound of the farms, the country...beautiful melodies.
