Venturing Down This Unknown Road

Venturing Down This Unknown Road

A Poem by B-poet

It's that dreaded feeling

When you've taken

A wrong turn into believing

You're almost there

Even though being

In the middle of nowhere

Is reason enough to contemplate

A low gas gauge

Is now on E

Bad mapping & timing

Are enough to cause despair

Within the mind of a nervous driver

Whose unquestionably sure

He's hit a dead end

Not reaching his true destination

While being lost

Within a thick fog of speculation

Like dark smoke

That will never clear & unfold

After regretfully Venturing Down This Unknown Road

You are on a roll. Like I mentioned with the line in the last piece, you have done the same here with the whole poem. You have given just enough, in the form of an extended metaphor, and unmixed--sorry bemoaning something I read elsewhere--to lead the reader to their own conclusion. So powerful and makes me want to read more than once. Great poem.

sometimes the unknown road and the lack of planning can lead us to an adventure that we had never before imagined! but sometimes it only leads us to despair and regret... great write about exploring something new or unknown.

I love the use of metaphors in this well written poem. One I personally can relate to. :) Julie

Sounds like the 'road less traveled' there's always a new dawn in store for us, so we can take a new direction....if only there were a GPS that could lead us down that right path. Nicely pen'd Bpoet, enjoyed~ :-)

Bad mapping & timing
Are enough to cause despair...

And yet it happens to all of us at one point in our lives... Best to go ahead on that road, and ask for directions...

Great metaphor, BP!
