Obtaining Strength Within The Depths Of Personal Darkness

Obtaining Strength Within The Depths Of Personal Darkness

A Poem by B-poet

It's a place

That's too familiar

To most people

A perilous pit

Of misplaced apathy

As the world keeps spinning

Without time

Acknowledging why

It's so deceptive

To the human eye

Try to keep your confidence

From drowning in socialist quicksand

Living up to the demands

Of this dependency

Can be quite costly

In the long run

If you're trying to shed light upon

Your own

True happiness while

Obtaining Strength Within The Depths Of Personal Darkness

You have this crazily brilliant aptitude in making phrases

socialist quicksand catches my eye this time. A captivating work!

Inspiring indeed... I like the idea of "socialist quicksand" and "shedding light upon your own true happiness"; there is great juxtaposition in this piece. Though it doesn't follow the format, this reminds me a bit of the structure of a sonnet in terms of a problem or issue being introduced and then cleared up in the second half and final two lines.

Technical suggestion: 2nd line "That's (too) familiar"

An interesting read, B. Some people must reach their bottom before they understand how to climb upward.

There seems no other way. From the pit, first must you climb.
