YOU ARE LOVED

A Poem by Titilayo Sarah Eguridu

POETRY

"
How could you feel inconsequential?
How could you feel unloved?
I carved every bone in your body and lovingly pieced them together with architectural precision.

I designed the colorful networks of your veins and muscles.
Child! How can you doubt my love for you?
You are my masterpiece!
I specially designed the spiral shape of your DNA.
...it’s bespoke!

Don’t get me started on your skin.
I chose the perfect hue for you.
It was never meant to be a means of identification.
To my utter amazement and disappointment,
...some people think their skin hue makes them superior.
That was never my intention!
All men are equal...that’s why I painted your insides the same color!

I gave you different hair texture,
To show case the uniqueness of different crowns.
Child please! discard your doubts.
It saddens me when you allow people’s actions, insecurities, and failures to eclipse the intensity of my love for you.

Before I formed thee in the belly...
I knew thee.
The depth of my love for you is incomprehensible and indescribable!
I am not some twisted misguided figment of human imagination!
I am God!
I was intentional about creating you!
I blessed the day I created you!
You are loved

that gave me goosebumps! it was such an ingenious blend of the personal, the political, and the metaphysical. that a mother loves her child unconditionally is the greatest thing to ever happen on earth. that racism still exists today is terrible, and that a mother cannot protect her child from it is gut-wrenching. yet, love conquers hate, love triumphs over everything. and a mother's love is Godly. this was profound writing that worked on many levels. i am blown away.

Titilayo, The voice of God coming through you is stunning and beautiful. Thank you for sharing this, but more importantly, thank you for writing it to begin with! It is a deeply powerful reminder that the Creator is in charge of our making our being, and our future!

It’s an honor to serve.
All encompassing love. We are all equal in the eyes of God. Not one of us is superior as we travel our pathway on earth!s plane. We are all unique in the eyes of our creator and how wonderfully protective that feels. Beautiful lines Titilayo. Pleased to have stopped by today dear poet.

Dear Beren,
I most thankful for the review.
True that; I echo the writer's thoughts and actions.
God creates with purpose.
God loves with free intent.
God sustains with heartfelt obligation.
God blesses in myriad ways.

'Architectura precision' - so finely said. As is creation through and through.

'All men are equal...that’s why I painted your insides the same color!' Brilliant thought, eternal truth.

A powerful piece such as this one deserves more than one airing. For the troubled and the weary especially, these words need to be read often.
