Yellow IsA Poem by DezarayeI wrote this in 10th grade for my "color poem" assignment.Yellow is the warmth I feel
When I see my newborn daughter. They set her, a warm, wiggling bundle, Into my arms for the first time. “Baby, I love you.” ~
Yellow is my baby’s giggling.
Her laughter as she takes Her first step, Says her first word. “Baby, I love you.” ~
Yellow is dandelions.
My daughter stoops down, Blonde hair sweeping her face. “Mommy, these are for you.” “Mommy, I love you.” ~
Yellow is the sunlight,
Dancing in her hair. Running toward me, Into my open arms. "Mommy, I love you.” ~
Yellow is the school bus.
The bus that takes her away To school and back. Such a smart girl. “Mom, I love you.” ~
Yellow is lemonade.
The lemonade stand she builds. The money she makes through the summer, Sharing her profit. “Mom, I love you.” ~
Yellow is a hug.
The warm hug my daughter gives me When I’m feeling down. The warm hug I give her back. “Mother, I love you.” ~
Yellow is giggling.
The giggling of teenage girls As they tell each other How much they hate their parents. “Mother, I hate you.” ~
Yellow is roses.
The roses she receives From a boyfriend, Sneaking out to be with him. “Mother, I hate you.” ~
Yellow is the sun, moon, and stars,
As they appear through the many days. The joys and sadness of my memories. The years flying by. “Mother, I love you. Mother, I hate you.” ~
Yellow is the warmth I feel
On her wedding day. Yellow is the roses Held in her hands. “Mommy, I love you.” ~
Yellow is the tears clouding my eyes,
When they give my daughter Her newborn bundle of joy. The warmth in her eyes as she looks at him. "Mommy, I love you. Baby, I love you.” ~
Yellow is remembering.
Memories are the old, Yellowed pages of a book; Always bitter sweet. Yellow is hearing: “Mommy, I love you.” © 2008 DezarayeFeatured Review
