Poetic derivations

Poetic derivations

A Poem by Balkaran Sidhu
"

A bit of a derivation of how poetry reflects a poet's life...

"
My life is an endless poem
much like a free flowing verse
free from the restrictions of rhymes.

Far from sonnets and Odes
Much different from ballads and Senryus
subjectivity of contemporary art.

Words of pure introversion
overexposed in the worlds of pages
The Soul whispering to the mind.

These lifeless alphabets group together
Incorporating deep meanings
the glared thoughts from my numbness.

Some resolved
of hollow thinking
Some from my cloudless hopes,
Smell of dreams turning to dust.

In the heap of the memories
Down in the earthly sins
lies the diffracted love.

My very own verse,
Where my story is virtualised
all the thorns I hath been pricked by
the ink of blood over my sentances.

All the poetic muses that I hath embarked
doth not relieve my scars
So I thrive for more poetic devices.

But my spirit cherishes the lyrics
Of the hues of my life's spectrum
Thirsty of so much love,
with nobody around

Your poem is an interesting comparison of how our life is like a poem. Your mixture of modern phrases (my story is virtualised) with some ancient words (poetic muses that I hath embarked) feels a little awkward, but maybe that was intended as a contrast. The title doesn't quite fit. Maybe something like 'The sonnets and Odes of My Life', or such.

and idk bout the title...
The title is fine. Quinfin made good suggestions. And I do't think the archaic English of "hath" and "doth" are needed in this poem. But you have the essence of poets and poety down...words are nothing till someone makes them magical...

Pure perfection of inspirations and derivations in the poet's mind. Nicely done. Beautifully written.

clever write...poetic derivations sounds fine, it is your poem, that's the beauty of it, you can call it what you want. if i may make a couple of observations here...stanza 4, i think you meant "incorporating" stanza 7, "by all the thorns which i've been pricked" flows better...stanza 8, "embraced" sounds nicer than "embarked" and makes better sense...and stanza 9 would sound less contrived with "thirsty of so much love with none around" i don't mean to pick apart your artistic endeavor but i thought this might help with the flow and meaning. it is an excellent poem, truly.
