Every Time

hey gang :D this is a poem I wrote about notifications. its a haiku.

Every time I open it

A flood of words drag me in

Pulling me under

When I'm feeling brave

I'll let it wash over me

Feel instant regret

Try to turn on mute

Cease all the buzzing and pings

But there's no escape

My phone is a trap

A trojan horse of reports

Waiting and lurking

"It's avoidable"

You are lying to yourself

There is no way out

Use a computer

E-mail sits menacingly

Just delete that tab

it won't go away

So much of it, all at once

Endless rabbit holes

Too much happening

How do you do anything

Where do these come from?

How do you focus

Nonexistent attention

On trivial things

So just close things down

Don't feel left out or lonely

Because honestly

It isn't all bad

I just don't wanna deal with

All of this dumb s**t

Every time I open it

Indeed.....it is all "dumb s**t" when you think about it....:)

I liked the tongue in cheek humour of this piece about our modern world which tries to overload our brains with constant information......
