The memory shook me to my very core. All of my young bravado evaporated in an instant. I was the very shell of myself in that moment. And yet there were more revelations to come.

Tygon flinched as a cloaked figure appeared behind Shar Zul. Flash backs to that horrid memory causing his adrenaline to spike. He skittered across the floor away from Shar Zul and Crimson and the shadow.

“VOID BE DENIED!” He screamed in terror. His back hitting the door. “VOID BE DENIED”

“Tyr Assundra, xe weil lex” Tygon instantly calmed, the horror from that memory fading “Let den nen sven va yen mina” A burst of light jumping from the cloaked figure to Tygon infusing him, calming him further. Causing him to glow for just a second lifting him to his feet. Tygon looked up at the cloaked figure, his usual confidence upon him. Looking piercingly at the face concealed beneath the hood. The cloak shook. And he quickly realized they were sobbing. He looked to Shar Zul with a questioning glance. The cloaked figure removed her hood. Revealing her face. She had piercing blue eyes dark aubrun hair to her shoulder and upswept ears.

“Do you not recognise your own mother Tyr?” Tygon’s mind raced. The memories of his old life flooding in. Shar Zull spoke for him

“In all fairness lady Merra, you are wearing a great cloak” She laughed a peal of sounds filled with joy

“Na muni?” said Tygon suddenly. Merra’s laugh abruptly stopping at his words

“Da na sarn!” she said openingly weeping. Tygon ran to her. And as their hands touched Tygon was transformed. No longer the gangly preteenager. But the nine year old boy he remembered throwing himself into a volcano.

“Why Tyr, why did you have to sacrifice yourself?” Wept Merra, “I would of rather seen the world burn than lose you”

“It is our duty as royals to protect the people” He looked up at his mother “How did I get here?” The room suddenly lurched as time unfroze and refroze. The ice melted away

“That was my doing” Tygon turned to look at the man who spoke. He was an uninteresting man. Average height and build. His hair an ash blond his eyes a pale almost translucent green. The only thing remarkable about him was the power he radiated

“Father!” he yelled in delight tackling the man. Merra walked over to them. Hugging them both together and weeping more but this time in joy

“Your father forgot to mention that he was a Zor” Resinagon shrugged as if it was of no importance

“When Zul and Crimson came to me telling me of your exploits. I grabbed your soul before it could pass through the gates of hell. It was a weak thing, torn and tattered from the energies of the vortex you jumped into. Yet your friends volunteered their own life to strengthen yours. And I placed you back into the cycle. And not to soon, you might of saved the world son. But you started the cataclysm” Tygon blanched. Ducking his head as if chastised. Immense guilt weighing down on him.

“Don’t even start to feel guilty you saved many more people than perished.” Said his mother sternly “All the people living today have you to thank” She walked over to a student still frozen in time by Resinagon. This child would not be alive today if not for your actions. Or any of the others. Yes you changed the world and the Assundran people.  But you saved them. I was never prouder than when I heard of your actions. Sad yet proud” Tygon smiled weakly, looking from mother to father. A realization dawning on him.

“You died too didn’t you? R’an and the others died because of me?” A tear rolled down his cheek. His father nodding.

“Yes after hearing what you had done, your brothers and sisters would not save themselves before saving plenty others. Establishing sanctuaries for as many as they could. Before succumbing to the great tumultuous storm of the cataclysm” Resinagon suddenly smiled “But being me has its perks, the pantheon of Zor was dethroned by the eruption of energy. So I installed your brothers and sisters as the new gods of this world. And your mother as guardian of the celestial” Tygon looked at his father blankly for a second and then laughed.

“R’an the god of battle and protection, is my R’an?” His mother nodded “It suits him, he used to pick fights with me something fierce. Yet if any of the other kids tried he always had my back” Merra smiled, Resniagon patting her shoulder. She looked at him forlornly. His face a cold stern mask.

“You have to go don’t you?” said Tygon sadly. They both nodded. “Can I visit? Is that allowed?” Merra looked hopefully up at her consort. He wiped away Merra’s last tear it going solid on his finger. Handing it to Tygon

“Shar Zul will know how to use this” he turned to the big cat “Guard him well” And they were gone. Tygon laughed. The room lurching back into proper.

“Look out you two, they’re going to have questions!” He patted Shar Zul’s head. Laughing more when he realised that Crimson was a dagger in his belt. Like old times
