In The Darkness I Burn Like A Candle

Inspiring poem.

If you have barred wetness
to my darkness,
try to understand my light
is underneath the surface.
To see it you have to sit
with me for awhile.

I burn like a candle,
my flame is small
but powerful.

You aren't alone in your perception... many exist just that way. There are so many, many me's in our world - always feeling like an I, and wishing like a "we".

That's true. I use to think I should be like everyone else. As I grew up I learned I will never be like everyone else. I shouldn't want to. I should want to be myself. I stopped expecting anything from everything as well. I am a happier person because I learned how to be happy with being unique.

THAT is the first thing a person needs to learn - but seldom does - to be themselves.

Yeah I don't know very many people who have. Even my boyfriend has issues with it. I have worked hard to get where I am today so that's why I learned so quickly. I started at an early age looking for answers and meditation. I am a lover of biology and chemistry so I understand those things at a deeper level than most do. I understand the mind and the makeup of our lives. It helps me to deal with reality.

Eating IS a hard habit to break... and I am NOT speaking about dieting. Real hunger is NOT choosing - between, it's not having ANYTHING to choose.

That's what writing is like for me. I hunger for it yet I still want more. As if I am not getting enough of it.

Coffee doesn't keep me awake nor focused... its a "comfort" - warm til it chills then cools as the mind simmers...

LOL I like coffee for my migraines. It works great. 😊

Yeah sometimes it's the only thing that helps. I am grateful for coffee. Also I need to get some rest. I will be back on here later. I hope you have a wonderful day. I need to take my pills and lay down for a bit. Maybe meditate. I will need it for the doctor visit.

I don't understand why I would change the word wetness unless I spelt it wrong. I don't know. Also I wasn't saying anything about day and night. I am talking about the dark. I am like a candle in the dark, I light up the room. Thank you for your feedback. 😊 I am glad you like it. I didn't expect anyone to comment so Yay! I am so grateful. Also I can research about other words I can use to replace wetness. I just couldn't think of anything else that fit.

The word wetness just doesn't fit. Makes your write less powerful. But that's just my interpretation.

Without changing the line. I would replace wetness, with ' Day.

I just don't understand how that would make sense though. LOL everyone is different on how they see things. I find it interesting. I can see how you would relate to that though because the day is lit up and the darkness is not. It's just that if I change the word it will not mean what I am trying to say. How can day see anything. When it is the person who would sit not the day. The day is not someone who can see anything. I am just a logical thinker so my poetry can be straight forward when I am writing. I am still learning how to think abstract. 😊

The word day is abstract. So can be used to describe several functions. The day is long. The day screams into the night. etc etc

Okay. I can use that concept in my future writing. I have used other abstract words before. It took me a lot of research about abstract writing and thinking. It's like art you don't always need to stick to a straight line to make a beautiful piece of art. 😊
