Sun on the Pavement (Part 2)

Sun on the Pavement (Part 2)

A Poem by Beatrice Mars
"

I'm waiting for the rain.

"
I'm waiting for the rain,
Is what I'd try to say.
I see my shadow
On the pavement.
Long legs
Skinny waist,
The girl that I am.

Long legs
Skinny waist
Skin stretched over
Ribs and bones.

(To many broken
Mirrors)
I took those drugs,
To make me
Long legs
Skinny waist.
(But I got more than I bargained for)
Skin stretched over
Ribs and bones.

And I'm still
Hiding
Behind that mask
(But now you can see my
Scars and cracks)

Wanted to be like
Her
                  (The shadow with)
Long legs
Skinny waist
(Skin stretched over ribs
and Bones.)
She does it better
Than me
Somehow.
I think I need
Air brushing
(So my Spine don't show)

My Shadow says I'm
FAT
(Even though you don't see it)
But the mirror
(And the doctors,)
Say I got
Long legs,
Skinny waist
And skin stretched over
Ribs and bones.

Sun on the pavement
Dances
With
The girl
I wish I wasn't

Long legs

                Skinny Waist

    Skin Stretched over

                  Ribs and Bones.

(still better than the alternative.)

Author's Note

Beatrice Mars
follow up to a poem I wrote awhile ago. Don't think I got the same tone (different subject though, sorta) , but I quite like this.

amazing. I actually prefer this to the first (which i just read {again} a minute ago) but i think they work really well together - i wish in English we could do a comparison on these two poems instead of Valentine and Twice Shy :D It would be more fun even though they are different topics so im not sure quite how that would work. Besides which it's about as likely as Mr Anderson getting over himself. More than impossible. :P
Anyway love them both but especially this one :D xx

Wow...this is brilliant. The issues you deal with in this is something I think many women deal with on a daily basis. Everyone saying "Be like this, be like that" and, by the time you're done, all the woman has left is questions about themselves. Which is ridiculous. I'm a firm believer that everyone is beautiful. This is really well written, dear. I thought the repetition might get to me, but you did it just the perfect amount of time and it really works.
