Pastel Yearning

Pastel Yearning

A Poem by Alicia Hirshey
"

I was watching The Notebook when this poem hit me, something about Noah and Allie's relationship had me falling in love with the movie all over again.

"
They didn’t agree on much, in fact, they rarely agreed on anything. The fought all the time and they challenged each other everyday. But in spite their differences they had one important thing in common they were crazy about each other-The NoteBook.

I realize the odds and sciences are against me. But science is not the total answer; this I have learned in my lifetime. And that leaves me with the belief that miracles, no matter how inexplicable or unbelievable, are real and can occur without regard to the natural order of things. ~ The Notebook

Pastel portrait
Painted in lace
Lessons of time
Written in you face
Glorious lessons
You have taught
Holding me close
Insuring nobody takes my spot
~*~
Confessions of madness
Withering away
Hoping that today
Will not be our last day
Iconic memories
You love to send
Powerful heartbeat
You capture me once again
~*~
Lustful yearning
Love’s embrace
Pouring everything into me
Disappearing without a trace
Endless passion
On into the night
Love is calling
Who will refuse it’s flight?
~*~
Guarded loved ones
Timing perfectly knew
On one knee
He took the world I knew
A question was forming
Thoughts flooded my head
There on that dance floor
Ia hurricane was whirling inside my head
~*~
Times long forgotten
Damaged, but bitterly true
I gave up on that dream
But I never gave up on you
Holding me closely
As we dance in the night
Sweeping me gently
Never losing sight
~*~
Taming isn’t an option
To me it’s a sin
Your are perfectly perfect
Sense the day you let me in
Mistakes can be forgotten
As we move away from that day
All that matters
Is you hare here to stay.

And I learned what is obvious to a child. That life is simply a collection of little lives, each lived one day at a time. That each day should be spent finding beauty in flowers and poetry and talking to animals. That a day spent with dreaming and sunsets and refreshing breezes cannot be bettered. But most of all, I learned that life is about sitting on benches next to ancient creeks with my hand on her knee and sometimes, on good days, for falling in love. ~ The Notebook
