"Rain"A Poem by Rebecca LeighThis is a descriptive poem, not very rhyming, but provides lots of imagery and personification.
Droplets of rain water form along the rim of the roof’s overhang, Prepare to descend, To assist in natures song, One may hear other Instruments, The whooshing of passing cars, The constant hum of the crickets manifold. They resonate in the crisp air, But the song: incomplete, For the raindrops are the crescendo-ed missing links, Molecules begin to bond, Creating larger orbital shapes, Tranquil and translucent, They glare by the street light’s reflection. God’s tears draw downward, And weight sends them on their journey, Falling, dropping, soaring, To the cement surface, Above Earth’s core, Sporadically plopping against the cool pavement, And suddenly, They are the essential percussion elements of the melodious harmony, They are the light taps, murmuring in the light breeze. © 2012 Rebecca LeighReviews
