The Lover's Lament

Sounds like arguing . . Between me and my boyfriend . Italics are me, bold him . This would happen to be on one of my worse days .

I'm not worth it
What did I do to deserve you
Why do you love me so
When I'm so imperfect?

You are worth it
You do not have to do anything
I love you for you
And everybody has flaws

I try to be better for you
To smile and laugh more
I tell you that I'm ok
Just to make your day

I would rather you didn't try
You are fine the way you are
You shouldn't act fake to me
And I'd rather you didn't always please me

I fight these days with hope
Even though you know scars mark my body
Does it not bother you that I am so hurt
So broken, torn down, and in pain ?

I tell you time and time again
You are fine the way you are
No matter what you do or how you act
I will love you no matter what

I know you love me
You tell me time and time again
Then why don't you believe me
Are you just that blind ?

I do believe you love me
My heart just can't seem to comprehend
That you are not here to hurt me
That you want to be my friend

Then let your heart believe
Set yourself free for once
Don't let your past weigh you down
For we can do anything together

Why are you so sure of yourself
Why am I to believe you
What makes you different from all the other ones
Who left my crying all alone

I promise I won't hurt you
I've heard that lie before

How can I know you're telling the truth

Why do you not believe me
I swear I'm not like the others
All the others said the same thing
And look where I am now

You shouldn't compare me to them
I swear to my life you are safe
I will not, cannot, ever try to ever harm your heart
It would hurt me to even think of it

Will you keep me safe
Will you keep your every promise ?
Will you protect me from everyone
Even when that everyone is myself ?

I promise to you
For everyday of the rest of your life
I shall love you like you have deserved
And make up for time lost

I promise I will love you
With the pieces of my heart
I promise I will love you
And fix that broken heart
