I HAVE BEEN DISCARDEDA Poem by Rik BIt’s as if I am the plague, a virus that is avoided at all cost, My life has been altered and my true meaning has been lost. I have been discarded, torn, crumpled ,and put out in the cold, This is not the way I wanted my life to truly unfold. I am a forgotten part of life that has been thrown to the side of the road. I am trying to keep my head up and to carry this heavy load, ... Life has thrown me out as trash and buried me in the rotten soil, I cry, not for myself, but for all the others in the same turmoil. I t is a struggle when you are the outcast of your land It’s a hardship for the strongest and toughest of man. To fight the might of life is a bitter battle in frustration, As if the world sees me as a devilish and dangerous creation. My heart and soul carry the pain of abandonment and sorrow. I see no change in the cold and blistery tomorrows. I am outcast now, thrown to the wolves of enlightenment, And I have accepted that this is what is truly meant. I cry, not for me, but for those that may be in the same situation, I cry for life, for it knows not what the final summation is. I cry for the struggles that have become part of my survival, I cry because I know that there is no true revival.
